UK Music Industry Trade Delegation to Participate in IMX 2025 Shanghai

BPI and DBT will organize a UK music industry trade delegation to participate in IMX 2025 Shanghai from October 21-25, 2025. The delegation will engage with Chinese music industry partners through the IMX platform.
This participation follows a preparatory webinar held on August 27, co-presented by IMX, BPI, and DBT. The “China Music Mission Webinar” provided industry insights ahead of the October mission.
Preparatory Forum Establishes Foundation
The August webinar featured expertise from both UK and Chinese music sectors, addressing key operational aspects of the Chinese market.

UK Delegation Framework for October
The UK delegation at IMX 2025 will connect UK record labels, publishers, management companies, digital distribution platforms, and live music organizations with Chinese industry infrastructure.
Participants will engage with leading platforms including TME and NetEase Cloud Music, as well as rights organizations MCSC and CAVCA. The British Consulate-General Shanghai will host a reception for delegation members and invited industry guests.
Market Context
China’s recorded music revenue reached $1.6 billion in 2024, ranking fifth globally. Subscription streaming revenue exceeded $1 billion with 18.9% year-over-year growth. Chinese subscribers represent 35% of global new additions, while physical record sales maintain approximately 20% annual growth.
IMX 2025 Program Structure
IMX 2025 runs October 22-25 in partnership with Music China at Shanghai New International Expo Centre N3 Hall. The program includes six components: industry forums, IMXUP, future exhibition areas, business touchpoints, global launches, and showcases. The event will feature over 100 industry leaders from multiple countries and regions across nearly 20 forum sessions.
